Washington state attorney Alexandra Lozano promised 'miracles' to tens of thousands of immigrants seeking legal status in the United States. Instead, according to several lawsuits and a legal ethics investigation, Lozano created fake stories of domestic abuse and human trafficking to apply for humanitarian visas without her clients' knowledge. They say she preyed on immigrants' desperation to drain their bank accounts while leaving them at risk. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Associated Press.

Gabriel Martinez Garcia, a 30-year-old immigrant, believed Lozano's advertisement and paid her thousands of dollars. But his application was denied, and Lozano stopped communicating with him. Martinez Garcia is now one of those who filed a lawsuit. The lawsuits indicate that Lozano defrauded at least 50,000 immigrants between 2015 and 2025. She used humanitarian visas such as U-visas (for crime victims) and T-visas (for trafficking victims). Lozano's office now operates under the name 'La Luz del Camino Legal.' The attorney herself has not responded to the lawsuits.
