Former head of the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs 'Atameken' Abylai Myrzakhmetov has been released from prison. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

In 2024, Myrzakhmetov was sentenced to five years in prison for embezzling 13.9 billion tenge through fraud over two years. During his two years in prison, he distinguished himself several times and reached the second level of positive behavior. Based on this, he petitioned the court to convert the remaining sentence to restriction of freedom. The court granted his request.

Although Myrzakhmetov has been released, he will remain under probation supervision for more than a year. During this time, he must comply with legally established restrictions. He is also banned from leaving Kazakhstan.

It is worth noting that two years ago, an additional 7 billion tenge was returned to the state in connection with Myrzakhmetov's case.
