In the Abai region, police decided to break away from the usual format of road checks. On the Semey-Pavlodar highway, inspectors stopped cars not to check documents, but to ensure that drivers were not tired on the road and could safely continue their journey. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

The unusual campaign took place in the Beskaragai district. On both sides of the highway, patrol officers and medics set up preventive checkpoints, through which more than 80 cars passed. Drivers had their blood pressure measured and were treated to hot coffee and drinking water.

Police also talked to motorists who had been behind the wheel for many hours. They reminded them that fatigue is no less dangerous than speeding or traffic violations.

"The main goal of the events is not to detect a violation, but to prevent a situation that could lead to serious consequences," the police department of the Abai region emphasized.

The department noted that such preventive checkpoints operate on roads throughout the region.

Earlier, drivers on popular routes to Balkhash began to be given water. Also, Kursiv Avto reported what changes await motorists in Kazakhstan from July 12.
