The Abai region has put into operation renovated railway stations at three stations: Ushbiik, Zharma and Shar. The opening ceremony was attended by the region's akim Berik Uali. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

Recall that in accordance with the instruction of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, within the framework of the program of JSC NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy for the modernization of station infrastructure, work began on updating 124 stations across the country, including 10 in the Abai region.

"The railway is one of the strategically important transport systems connecting the settlements of our country. Therefore, updating its infrastructure and creating comfortable conditions for passengers is an important task dictated by time. In the Zharma district, located at the intersection of important transport routes, we are opening three new stations at once. Let them provide passengers with comfortable conditions and contribute to the further development of the Zharma district," Uali said.

All three renovated stations occupy an important place in the region's transport system. Passenger trains pass through them on the routes: Semey - Astana, Novosibirsk - Almaty, Pavlodar - Almaty, Semey - Kyzylorda and Ust-Kamenogorsk - Almaty.

The railway station in the city of Shar was built in 1982. During modernization, the total area of the building increased from 413 to 654 square meters. The one-story facility became two-story, and the interior was completely renovated. An elevator was installed in the building, and waiting and passenger service areas were equipped with the necessary equipment. In addition, a previously missing island platform with a length of 716 meters was built at the station.

The railway station at Ushbiik station was built in 1995. The last major overhaul of the facility was carried out 14 years ago. Now, as a result of modernization, the total area of the building has increased from 83.7 to 201.1 square meters. The interior was renovated, and the waiting and passenger service rooms were equipped with all necessary equipment.

The station building at Zharma station was built in 1996. Based on the results of a technical survey, it was decided to completely demolish the old building and erect a new station in its place. The area of the new building increased from 217 to 347.7 square meters. The interior was re-equipped, and the waiting and passenger service areas were brought into line with modern requirements. In addition, 650 meters of the platform were updated.
