Firefighting operations continue in the Abai Region. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, dry grass and shrubs were burning in hard-to-reach mountainous terrain in the Tarbagatai rural district of the Ayagoz district.
The fire spread to the territory of the "Tarbagatai" State National Nature Park.
About 226 people and 43 units of equipment from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the "Semey Ormany" State Forest Nature Reserve, the "Tarbagatai" State National Nature Park, and local executive bodies have been deployed to extinguish the fire.
Two helicopters from "Kazaviaspas" and the National Security Committee were also involved in extinguishing the fire.
"Water was dropped from the air 12 times," the statement says.
Firefighting efforts are complicated by the difficult terrain of the mountainous area, steep ascents, the absence of roads leading to the fire sources, and wind gusts.
There is no threat to settlements. The situation is under control, the ministry says.
