A special economic zone "Semey" will be created in the Abai region. The corresponding decree was signed by Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
Location and area of the new SEZ
The new special economic zone with an area of 600 hectares will be located in the Zhanasemey district. This was reported by the Government.
Investments and jobs
The total volume of investments in projects on the territory of the SEZ is projected at 1.4 trillion tenge. The launch of new enterprises will create about 14 thousand permanent jobs.
Industrial complex and export orientation
The Government's statement notes that a high-tech modern industrial and production complex is planned to be created on the territory of the zone, including export-oriented enterprises.
"Special attention is paid to creating favorable conditions for investors and developing production links between enterprises and logistics infrastructure," the statement says.
Number of SEZs in the country to reach 19
Thus, with the opening of the "Semey" SEZ, 19 special economic zones will operate in 15 regions of the country. They will create opportunities for expanding new production facilities and output of industrial products.
