Today, a ceremony was held in Semey to lay the foundation of the EcoForest full-cycle ecological wood processing industrial park. The event was attended by the region's governor Berik Uali and Zhang Likai, general director of Xinjiang Chunzheng Aosi Trading Co., Ltd.

In his congratulatory speech, the head of the region noted that this project will make a significant contribution to increasing the industrial and investment potential of the region and creating new jobs.

"Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev constantly emphasizes attracting investment as one of the priority areas of the country's economic policy and gives appropriate instructions. In the Abai region, we pay special attention to creating favorable conditions for investors, developing industrial infrastructure and launching new industries. Today's project is a concrete result of international partnership. This initiative will be implemented following negotiations that began at the international conference 'Greater Altai' held last year in the People's Republic of China. The project was supported by the regional coordination council, necessary state support measures were provided and land plots were allocated for its implementation. The implementation of the project will make a significant contribution to the industrial and environmental development of the region, create new jobs, introduce modern technologies and enable efficient, comprehensive and waste-free use of wood raw materials," said Berik Uali.

The project is aimed at efficient processing of wood damaged by fires and subject to sanitary felling, production of high value-added products, reuse of production waste and increasing the industrial potential of the region.

The total investment volume of the project is 67 million US dollars. Within its framework, a full-cycle industrial-ecological wood processing park will be built in Semey on an area of 50 hectares, and a primary wood processing complex will be built in the village of Mikhailovka, Borodulikha district, on 4 hectares.

The complex in Semey plans to process up to 2 million cubic meters of wood raw materials per year and produce 800–900 thousand cubic meters of finished products. The complex will include a plant for the production of boards of classes E1, E0 and ENF with a capacity of 250–300 thousand cubic meters per year, a plant for the production of OSB and FOSB boards with a capacity of 250–300 thousand cubic meters per year, a furniture production module with a capacity of up to 100 thousand cubic meters of finished products per year, production of thermally modified and antiseptic-treated wood, production of euro pallets, a plant for the production of wood pellets and biofuels, a plant for the production of organic fertilizers, a construction and logistics center and the necessary engineering infrastructure. The complex in Borodulikha district provides for the processing of up to 500 thousand cubic meters of wood per year and the production of 120–150 thousand tons of pellets. At this site, reception, accounting and sorting of wood, debarking, cutting into assortments, sawing, drying, crushing and preparation of raw materials for deep processing will be carried out. The prepared wood will be sent to the main production complex in Semey.

As part of the project, a modern automated production will be launched, and wood raw materials will be deeply processed using waste-free technology. The enterprises will produce OSB and FOSB panels, MDF, particle boards, plywood, veneer, engineering and finishing panels, furniture blanks, wood pellets, biofuels and organic fertilizers.

When reaching full capacity, the enterprises will create up to 900 permanent jobs, and the products will be exported to the markets of Kazakhstan, as well as Central Asia, Europe, Japan, South Korea and other international markets.
