Two renovated railway stations have been opened in Abai Region as part of a modernization program. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
In Kazakhstan's Abai Region, the first two renovated railway stations have been commissioned under a modernization program, the Ministry of Transport reported.
The stations at Aul and Belagash were put into operation. The railway station renovation program is being implemented on the instructions of the head of state.
The opening ceremony was attended by Abai Region Akim Berik Uali and Vice Minister of Transport Zhanibek Taizhanov.
"On the instructions of the Head of State, the country is implementing the largest program since independence to modernize 124 railway stations, launched in 2025. This large-scale project is aimed at comprehensive renewal of the country's transport infrastructure, improving the quality of passenger services, and creating modern, comfortable and safe conditions for travel," the Vice Minister noted.
During the reconstruction, the roofs were replaced, and interior and exterior finishing of floors, walls, ceilings, windows and doors was carried out. Specialists also modernized engineering networks for water supply, sewerage, ventilation, air conditioning, heating and electricity.
In addition, passenger platforms were reconstructed and the surrounding areas were landscaped. The buildings were equipped with new furniture and necessary equipment.
The railway station at Aul was built in 1929. The total area of the renovated building is 273 square meters.
The station at Belagash was built in 1914. The area of the renovated building is 265 square meters.
Work on modernizing stations continues in all regions of Kazakhstan. By July 1, it is planned to complete the reconstruction of another 28 facilities. The overall program is expected to be completed by the end of the year. The progress of work is under constant control of the Ministry of Transport.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that the Kazakh authorities will purchase nearly 200 new carriages and launch additional routes to tourist destinations.
