In the Makanshy district of the Abai region, dry grass and reeds are burning in a swampy area 22 km from the village of Kabanbay. More than 100 people and 27 units of equipment have been deployed to extinguish the fire. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
Emergency Ministry units, volunteers of “Auyl Qutqarushylary” and representatives of local executive bodies are working at the scene.
The extinguishing efforts are complicated by strong wind gusts, the swampy terrain and tall reeds, which in some places reach three meters.
Firefighters managed to prevent the fire from spreading to a residential house of a peasant farm and stored hay with a total volume of about 30 tons.
According to the Emergency Ministry, there is no threat to settlements. The situation is under the control of the agency.
Earlier, “Kursiv” reported that dry grass and reeds were extinguished on an area of 5 hectares near the village of Auliekol in the Zhambyl region. The fire was extinguished by 32 people and seven units of equipment from the Emergency Department, volunteer firefighting formations and Asian Gas Pipeline LLP.
