In the first half of 2026, 727 workers at enterprises in Kazakhstan sustained occupational injuries. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The Committee of State Labor Inspection of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population sent recommendations to more than 500 thousand employers to strengthen occupational safety and health.
According to the ministry, compared to the same period last year, the injury rate increased by 24.5%. The number of workers with severe injuries increased from 409 to 476 people, i.e. by 16.4%.
Main causes of injuries
Analysis of investigation materials of accidents showed that the main causes of occupational injuries include:
- 01insufficient organization of safe work performance;
- 02lack of proper control over compliance with safety requirements;
- 03use of faulty equipment;
- 04violation of requirements when conducting high-risk work.
In addition, the occurrence of accidents is influenced by a formal approach to instruction and training of workers, failure to provide or use personal protective equipment, as well as insufficient control over the condition of workplaces.
Protection of minors
According to the legislation, persons under 18 years of age are strictly prohibited from being involved in heavy work, work with harmful and (or) hazardous working conditions, as well as night and overtime work. Minors have reduced working hours.
Employer's obligations
In the event of an accident related to work, the employer is obliged to provide first aid to the victim, if this does not threaten the life and health of other people, preserve the situation at the scene unchanged, and also ensure an investigation of the accident in accordance with the procedure established by law.
The employer is obliged to report an accident related to work within 24 hours to the relevant territorial division of the state labor inspection.
