Official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Shyngys Alekeshev explained the procedure for mandatory medical examination for drivers over 65 years old. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
When did the medical examination start?
According to Alekeshev, the mandatory medical examination for drivers over 65 has been in effect since 2014. From August 25, only one change comes into force: if a driver does not undergo the medical examination in time, the driver's license will be automatically and temporarily suspended.
Rules for 65-year-old drivers
He noted that a person who has reached 65 does not need to undergo the medical examination immediately. The examination can be taken until the age of 67. After that, the issued medical certificate is valid for up to two years. The next medical certificate should be obtained at age 69, 71, and so on.
Where can you undergo it?
According to Alekeshev, there is no need to go to clinics en masse and stand in queues. The medical examination can be done at any medical institution: state or private. It can be done at the place of residence or in another city. The main thing is that the medical organization has permission and the ability to conduct such an examination.
What happens if you don't undergo it?
The official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs also told what will happen if you do not undergo the medical examination in time. In this case, the driver's license will be temporarily suspended. But this does not mean deprivation of the driver's license. After passing the medical examination, the driver's license automatically comes back into force.
Patrol police officers first explain the requirements to drivers and give a verbal warning. If people did not know or forgot about this requirement, they are first given the opportunity to undergo the medical examination.
No fine is provided
He also noted that no fine is imposed for not undergoing the medical examination. The law does not provide for a fine for not undergoing the medical examination. The only consequence is the temporary suspension of the driver's license until the examination is completed.
What to do if information is not displayed in the database?
Shyngys Alekeshev warned drivers that if they have undergone the medical examination but the information is not displayed in the database, there is no need to worry. This can happen sometimes. If the information does not immediately appear in the database, there is no need to worry. It is enough to show the police officer a paper certificate of the medical examination. After that, the police officer will ensure that the information is entered into the database.
