In Kazakhstan, over the past six years, 4 million more residents have gained access to natural gas. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to the Ministry of Energy, the country's gasification level increased from 51% to 64.2%. The number of people supplied with gas increased from 9.1 million to 13.1 million.
During these years, more than 1,000 settlements were covered by gasification works, and 20,000 km of gas distribution networks were built.
The ministry noted that the increase in the indicator was ensured through the implementation of infrastructure projects aimed at developing gas transportation and gas distribution systems, as well as connecting new settlements to gas.
In 2025 alone, more than 354,000 residents in 94 settlements gained access to natural gas. About 2,000 km of gas distribution networks were built in one year.
In 2026, work on the development of gas infrastructure continues. Currently, 40 projects are being implemented, including 7 transitional and 33 new ones. Within the framework of the projects, about 36,000 more people will gain access to natural gas this year.
For the gasification of the northern regions, the project of constructing the main gas pipeline "Ishim – Astana" is of great importance. A memorandum on its implementation was signed between the Government of Kazakhstan and Gazprom.
The project will allow reliable gas supply to Astana, Kokshetau and Petropavlovsk, as well as diversify natural gas supply routes to the northern regions of the country.
