In the first half of this year, 566 villages in the country switched to 4G network. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

Within the framework of the national project 'Affordable Internet', 21 out of 31 planned activities were successfully completed. In 2025, 362 villages were provided with internet via satellite communications, mobile operators installed 12 dual-purpose towers, and 743 'white spots' were eliminated across Kazakhstan.

Also, amendments were made to laws and regulatory legal acts to improve regulation of the communications sector. By the end of 2027, it is planned to provide high-speed internet to more than 3 thousand villages, covering 1.2 million people and 5.8 thousand state facilities.

To date, fiber-optic communication lines have been built in 12 villages, and internet access via satellite communications has been provided in 340 villages. With the support of the World Bank, a project to subsidize the 'last' consumer is being implemented in the amount of 83.9 billion tenge to cover 2.3 million people in 1,123 villages with internet.

This project involves the construction of fiber-optic communication lines directly to settlements and households in 1,123 villages, which will provide high-speed internet to about 2.3 million people. Currently, work has begun on the construction of fiber-optic communication lines to households.

The mobile communications sector has fulfilled its obligations to deploy 5G networks ahead of schedule, installing more than 3,618 base stations in 20 cities of the country. All villages with a population of more than 250 people, i.e. 3,807 villages, are being gradually transferred to the 4G standard by providing tax preferences to operators, including as of the first half of 2026, 566 villages switched to 4G.
