On October 4, 1226, Saint Francis of Assisi, considered the patron saint of animals, died. The Francis Prize is awarded for outstanding merits in the field of nature conservation. The decision to celebrate Animal Protection Day was adopted in 1931 at a congress of supporters of the international nature conservation movement in Florence. Many countries around the world agreed to mark this day annually and organize various public events.
Professional holiday of Kazakhstan's missile troops and artillery
On October 4, specialists of the missile troops and artillery of the country's Armed Forces celebrate their professional holiday. On this very day in 2000, in accordance with a directive from the Minister of Defense, the command of the missile troops and artillery was established. Today, the missile troops and artillery are part of the Land Forces and serve as the main means of fire destruction of the enemy in combined-arms combat. The basis of their combat power consists of tactical missiles, barrel and rocket artillery, mortar formations, military units and subunits.
