Today, the world celebrates Blog Day. The idea to celebrate this day originated on August 31, 2005. Today, the global blogosphere is a rapidly growing part of the internet, with nearly a threefold increase in this sector in recent years.

Moldova celebrates its traditional holiday – National Language Day (Limba noastră) on the last day of summer. The adoption of the law granting the Moldovan language state status in 1989 served as the basis for establishing this holiday.

Kyrgyzstan has celebrated Independence Day annually since 1991.

In Uzbekistan, since 2001, August 31 is observed as the Day of Remembrance for Victims of Political Repressions.
