Storm warning for October 3: snow, ice and squalls across 17 regions

A storm warning has been issued for October 3 in 17 regions of Kazakhstan: rain and snow, thunderstorms, fog, ice, dust storms and strengthening winds are expected. High and extreme fire danger persists in a number of regions, Kazhydromet reported. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

Pavlodar Region

In Pavlodar Region, rain and thunderstorms are forecast at night and in the morning in the north and center. The same weather is expected in Pavlodar.

Akmola Region

In Akmola Region, the southwest wind will strengthen to 15-20 m/s: at night in the west, during the day in the west, north and east. High fire danger is expected in the east and center, while extreme fire danger persists in the north and south. In Kokshetau, daytime gusts of the southwest wind will reach 15-20 m/s, and extreme fire danger persists.

Kostanay Region

In Kostanay Region, gusts of the southwest wind in the west and north will reach 15-20 m/s. High fire danger persists in the south.

Karaganda Region

In Karaganda Region, during the day in the west, north and east, the south and southwest wind will strengthen to 15-20 m/s. High fire danger persists in the northwest, east and south, while extreme fire danger persists in the west, north and center. In Karaganda, daytime gusts of the south and southwest wind will reach 15-20 m/s.

Mangystau Region

In Mangystau Region, the north and northwest wind is expected in the west and south at a speed of 15-20 m/s. High fire danger persists across the region, and extreme fire danger in the northeast. In Aktau, daytime gusts of the north and northwest wind will reach 15-18 m/s, and high fire danger persists.

Ulytau Region

In Ulytau Region, heavy rain is expected at times during the day in the north and center. In the west, north and center, gusts of the south and southwest wind will reach 15-20 m/s. Extreme fire danger persists. In Zhezkazgan, during the day the south and southwest wind will strengthen to 15-20 m/s, and fire danger also remains extreme.

Aktobe Region

In Aktobe Region, ice is forecast in the north, and fog at night and in the morning in the north and center. High fire danger persists in the east, and extreme fire danger in the west, south, northeast and center. In Aktobe, rain and snow, ice, and fog at night and in the morning are expected.

North Kazakhstan Region

In North Kazakhstan Region, fog is expected at night and in the morning in the north and east. In the west, north and south, gusts of the southeast wind will reach 15-20 m/s. In Petropavlovsk, during the day the southeast wind will strengthen to 15-20 m/s.

East Kazakhstan Region

In East Kazakhstan Region, rain and snow are forecast at night and in the morning in the east and mountainous areas, and fog in the north and east. The southeast wind will change to southwest, with gusts of 15-20 m/s in the west and north. High fire danger persists in the east and center, and extreme fire danger in the west, southeast and south. In Ust-Kamenogorsk, gusts of the southeast wind shifting to southwest will reach 15-18 m/s.

Almaty Region

In Almaty Region, gusts of the southwest and west wind of up to 15-20 m/s are expected at times in the east and center. Extreme fire danger persists in the north, west and center, and high fire danger in the east. In Konaev, daytime gusts of the southwest and west wind will reach 18 m/s, and extreme fire danger persists.

Abai Region

In Abai Region, fog is forecast at night and in the morning in the southwest and east. In the west, north and center, gusts of the southwest and south wind will reach 15-20 m/s. High fire danger persists in the north and center, and extreme fire danger in the northwest, south and east. In Semey, high fire danger persists.

Kyzylorda Region

In Kyzylorda Region, rain and thunderstorms are expected at night in the west, north and center. Rain and thunderstorms are also forecast during the day, with a dust storm and squall in the north, east and center. The southeast wind will change to southwest: at night in the north, west and center gusts will reach 15-20 m/s, during the day 15-20 m/s, and in the south, east and center 23 m/s. Extreme fire danger persists across the region, and high fire danger in the north and center.

In Kyzylorda, rain, thunderstorms, a dust storm and a squall are expected during the day. The southeast wind, shifting to southwest, will strengthen to 15-20 m/s. Extreme fire danger persists.

Zhetisu Region

In Zhetisu Region, fog is forecast at night and in the morning in the mountains. In the east, gusts of the southeast wind will reach 15-20 m/s. Extreme fire danger persists in the south and east.

West Kazakhstan Region

In West Kazakhstan Region, high fire danger persists in the south and east. In Uralsk, rain and snow are expected, with heavy precipitation at times during the day. Daytime gusts of the northwest wind will reach 15-20 m/s.

Turkestan Region

In Turkestan Region, rain and thunderstorms are expected during the day in the west, north, mountainous and foothill areas, and a dust storm in the north. The southeast wind will change to northwest, with daytime gusts of 15-20 m/s in the west, north, mountains and foothills. Extreme fire danger persists in the west, north, south and center.

In Shymkent and Turkestan, rain and thunderstorms are forecast in the second half of the day. Daytime gusts of the southeast wind shifting to northwest will reach 15-20 m/s. Extreme fire danger also persists in Turkestan.

Atyrau Region

In Atyrau Region, fog is expected at night and in the morning in the east. During the day in the north and east, gusts of the northwest wind will reach 15-18 m/s. High fire danger persists across the region, and extreme fire danger in the south. Extreme fire danger persists in Atyrau.

Zhambyl Region

In Zhambyl Region, rain and thunderstorms are forecast during the day in the mountains. In the southwest, northeast and mountainous areas, the southeast wind is expected during the day at a speed of 15-20 m/s. Extreme fire danger persists in the west, north and south, and high fire danger is expected in the southwest and southeast. High fire danger is forecast in Taraz.

Earlier, Kursiv wrote that on October 3-5, a sharp cold snap is expected in Kazakhstan due to a northern cyclone. In the northern half of the country, nighttime temperatures will drop to −6 degrees, while during the day in the northwest, north and center it will be from 0 to +5 degrees.
