Storm warnings for October 28: which regions will be affected by severe weather

Kazhydromet forecasters warn of frosts down to −8°C, fog and wind gusts up to 20 meters per second on October 28. A dust storm is expected in the Kyzylorda region. Most of the country will remain under the influence of an anticyclone — without precipitation. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

“Only in the south of the country, with the passage of atmospheric fronts, precipitation (rain, snow) is expected at night, and rain during the day,” the forecast says.

Zhetisu and Almaty regions

In the Zhetisu region, temperatures will drop to −3…−8°C at night, and to −6…−8°C in Taldykorgan. In the area of the Alakol lakes, the wind will intensify to 15–20 meters per second.

In the Almaty and Zhambyl regions, frosts down to −1…−6°C are expected. In Konaev, −2…−4°C is forecast, in Taraz — −3…−5°C. In the mountains of both regions, wind gusts will reach 15–20 meters per second, and fog is also expected in the Zhambyl region.

Turkestan and Kyzylorda regions

In the west of the Turkestan region, the temperature will drop to −1°C at night, and to −1…−3°C in Turkestan. In the west, south and mountains of the region, the wind will intensify to 15–20 meters per second. Fog is expected in mountainous areas.

In the north and center of the Kyzylorda region, frosts down to −3°C are forecast at night. During the day, in the east and center of the region, including Kyzylorda, a dust storm and wind up to 15–20 meters per second are expected. The same wind gusts are forecast in the west of the Mangistau region.

Fog in the regions

Fog is forecast in the East Kazakhstan region and the Abai region — in the west and north, in the Karaganda region — in the west, north and east, in the Ulytau region — in the north, east and center.

In the North Kazakhstan region, fog is expected in the west, north and south, in the Kostanay region — in the east and southeast, in the Pavlodar region — in the west and south, in the Akmola region — in the east and south. Warnings are also in effect for Karaganda, Zhezkazgan and Petropavlovsk.

In Astana, fog is expected at night and in the morning. In Almaty, it will get colder to −1…−3°C at night, and in the mountains of the Medeu and Bostandyk districts, the wind will intensify to 15–20 meters per second.

Fire danger

High fire danger remains in Almaty and Shymkent.

Extreme fire danger remains in the Atyrau region, in most of the Kyzylorda region, in the west, south, east and center of the Aktobe region, in the west of the Karaganda region, in the center of the Mangistau region, in the west and center of the Ulytau region, and in the east of the Zhetisu region.

High fire danger is expected in the Mangistau region and certain areas of the West Kazakhstan, Kyzylorda, Zhambyl, Kostanay, Almaty, Turkestan regions and the Zhetisu region.

Earlier, forecasters promised that an Indian summer would return to Kazakhstan at the end of October.
