Kazakhstan bans auto calls and additional paid services without subscriber consent from June 28. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to the new rules, telecom operators can only add additional paid services with the subscriber's written consent. Auto calls (robocalls) are also prohibited without prior consent. These measures aim to protect consumer rights and prevent fraud.
The Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of Kazakhstan emphasized that the changes will protect subscribers from unauthorized services. Ministry officials stated that operators violating the new requirements will face fines.
Subscribers can now give or withdraw consent for additional services through their personal accounts or by contacting the operator's call center. They can also opt out of auto calls by joining a special list.
These measures are part of broad reforms in the telecommunications sector aimed at protecting consumer rights in Kazakhstan. The ministry said it will continue working in this direction.
