Today, October 25, Kazakhstan celebrates a national holiday – Republic Day. Since 2022, Republic Day has been re-established by law. The date of October 25 was not chosen by chance: on this day in 1990, the Declaration on State Sovereignty of the Kazakh SSR was adopted. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

The Declaration for the first time outlined the foundations of independent statehood, the revival and development of the country's own culture, traditions, and language, and the strengthening of national dignity.

Also, today Russia celebrates Customs Day. Many do not know that the first customs charter in Russia appeared 359 years ago. Since then, October 25 has remained a significant date in the history of Russian customs. Three and a half centuries ago, on this very day, Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich issued a decree on collecting customs duties in Moscow and other Russian cities.
