Snow, low blizzards, ice and frost are expected in Kazakhstan on October 24, Kazhydromet reported. Storm warnings have been declared in 16 regions, with nighttime frosts of 2-4 degrees forecast in Almaty and frost on the ground plus strong winds in Shymkent. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

Almaty

In Almaty, nighttime frosts of 2-4 degrees are expected.

Abai Region

In the Abai Region, snow, low blizzards and ice are forecast at night in the west, north and center. During the day, light snow, low blizzards and ice are expected in the north, east and center. Fog is possible in the south at night and in the morning. Gusts of northwest wind in the east and southwest will reach 15-20 m/s.

Akmola Region

In the Akmola Region, light snow and ice are expected at night in the east. Fog will cover the west and south of the region at night and in the morning.

Almaty Region

In the Almaty Region, northeast wind gusts in the east and mountains will reach 18-23 m/s. Nighttime frosts of 1-6 degrees are forecast. High fire danger persists in the west, east and center.

Atyrau Region

In the Atyrau Region, daytime gusts of east and southeast wind in the southwest will reach 15-20 m/s. Extreme fire danger persists in the region.

East Kazakhstan Region

In the East Kazakhstan Region, snow, low blizzards and ice are expected in the north, east and mountains. Fog is possible in the north, and northwest wind gusts of 15-18 m/s in the south.

Zhambyl Region

In Shymkent, northeast wind with gusts of 15-20 m/s is expected on October 24-25. Nighttime frosts of up to 2 degrees are forecast on the ground surface.

Forecasters' outlook

According to forecasters, snow in the eastern half of Kazakhstan is associated with the influence of a cyclone trough and atmospheric fronts. In the rest of the territory, under the influence of an anticyclone ridge, mostly precipitation-free weather will persist.

Earlier, Kursiv reported that snow, rain, fog and ice are forecast in several regions of Kazakhstan during the holiday weekend of October 24-26.
