Mole Day
Since October 23, 1991, from 6:02 a.m. to 6:02 p.m., chemists celebrate Mole Day, a holiday dedicated to the unit of measurement of the amount of substance in the International System of Units. The idea for this event first appeared in the 1980s in The Science Teacher newspaper. On May 15, 1991, M. Oiler, a chemistry teacher from Prairie du Chien (Wisconsin), founded the National Mole Day Foundation based on this idea. Later, chemists decided to celebrate such a holiday.
