ASTANA, August 3. In Kazakhstan, data on more than 23,000 water bodies have been digitized and entered into the national information system of water resources (NISWR). This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation has developed the NISWR, which integrates data on water bodies, water management infrastructure, water users, groundwater, and other areas of the sector. The main goal of the system is to form a unified, reliable, and up-to-date database necessary for making management decisions.
According to the ministry, today the system has digitized and systematized information on more than 23,000 water bodies. These include 17,748 rivers, 3,148 lakes, and 1,109 hydraulic structures.
In addition, about 3,000 organizations and more than 4,000 users are registered in the information system. About 9,000 digital passports of water management and hydraulic structures have been entered into the system.
Also, through the system, more than 2,200 reports on primary water accounting and more than 1,300 reports on form 2-TP have been accepted.
