On July 22, World Brain Day is celebrated. This date was established by the World Federation of Neurology. Neurology is a branch of medicine that deals with the identification and prevention of diseases of the central and peripheral nervous system, including the main organ of the human nervous system – the brain. In recent years, significant progress has been made in brain research, but for scientists, the workings of the brain remain a mystery. World Brain Day is primarily aimed at raising public awareness about common diseases of the brain and nervous system. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
In 2017, the list of international sports dates was expanded with another holiday. Since 2018, International Boxing Day has been celebrated annually on July 22. Boxing (from the English word Boxing) is a sport in which two athletes wearing leather gloves punch each other. The bout lasts 12 rounds, and the fight between opponents in the ring is supervised by a referee. The winner is determined by knockout or technical knockout. If the bout does not end after the set number of rounds, the winner is decided by the judges. The modern form of boxing originated in England in the early 18th century, and after the Olympic movement, boxing was included in the list of Olympic sports in 1920.
