Kazhydromet has issued a storm warning for September 21 for Astana, Almaty and 15 regions of Kazakhstan. Thunderstorms, strong winds and fog are expected in various regions. High or extreme fire danger persists in many areas. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
Astana and Almaty
High fire danger persists in Astana.
In Almaty, rain and thunderstorms are expected at times, with wind gusts reaching 17 m/s. High fire danger persists. In the Ile Alatau mountains and the mountain zones of the Medeu and Bostandyk districts, rain, thunderstorms and wind with gusts of 17–22 m/s are forecast during the day.
Almaty region
In the Almaty region, rain and thunderstorms are expected at night in the north, center and south, and during the day in the south, east and mountainous areas. In the north, south and mountains, the wind will at times strengthen to 17–22 m/s. Extreme fire danger persists in the region, with high danger in the south and east. In Konaev, rain, thunderstorms and wind gusts of up to 17–22 m/s are expected at night; extreme fire danger persists.
Zhetisu region
In the Zhetisu region, rain and thunderstorms are forecast at night in the south, center and mountains. During the day, rain and thunderstorms are also expected in the region, while heavy rain, hail and squalls are forecast in mountainous areas. In the south, east and mountains, wind gusts will reach 15–20 m/s, at times 23–28 m/s. In Taldykorgan, rain and thunderstorms will occur at times.
Ulytau region
In the south of the Ulytau region, the wind will strengthen to 15 m/s. Extreme fire danger persists in the region and in Zhezkazgan.
Karaganda region
In the south of the Karaganda region, rain and thunderstorms are expected, with fog at night and in the morning in the north and east. High fire danger persists in the region, with extreme danger in the west, north and east. Extreme fire danger also persists in Karaganda.
Zhambyl region
In the east and mountainous areas of the Zhambyl region, rain and thunderstorms are forecast at night and in the morning. In the southwest, northeast and mountains, wind gusts will reach 15–20 m/s. Extreme fire danger persists in the region and in Taraz.
Atyrau region
Extreme fire danger persists in the south of the Atyrau region and in Atyrau.
West Kazakhstan region
In the north and east of the West Kazakhstan region, as well as in Uralsk, fog is expected at night and in the morning.
Aktobe region
In the north of the Aktobe region, fog is forecast at night and in the morning. Extreme fire danger persists in the west, south and center of the region. In Aktobe, fog is also expected at night and in the morning.
Mangystau region
In the west and center of the Mangystau region, rain and thunderstorms are expected. High fire danger is forecast in the west, it persists in the north and center, and extreme danger persists in the northeast. In Aktau, rain and thunderstorms are expected in the morning and afternoon; high fire danger is forecast in the city.
Akmola region
In the west, north and east of the Akmola region, fog is expected at night and in the morning. High fire danger persists in the south, north, east and center of the region, as well as in Kokshetau.
North Kazakhstan region
In the north, east and south of the North Kazakhstan region, fog is forecast at night and in the morning. High fire danger persists in the east of the region. Fog is also expected in Petropavlovsk.
Kostanay region

Pavlodar region
In the north, east and center of the Pavlodar region, fog is forecast at night and in the morning. High fire danger persists throughout the region. Fog is also expected in Pavlodar.
East Kazakhstan region
In the north and east of the East Kazakhstan region, fog is expected at night and in the morning, while during the day in the east and south the wind will strengthen to 15–20 m/s. High fire danger persists in the west, east and south of the region, with extreme danger in the southeast. In Ust-Kamenogorsk, fog is forecast at night and in the morning.
Abai region
In the north and center of the Abai region, fog is expected at night and in the morning, with wind gusts of up to 15–20 m/s in the east and south. High fire danger persists across the region, with extreme danger in the northwest and south. High fire danger persists in Semey.
Earlier, Kursiv wrote that unfavorable weather conditions are expected in nine cities of Kazakhstan on September 21. They are forecast during the day in Pavlodar, Atyrau, Aktobe and Astana, and at night in Petropavlovsk, Kostanay, Kokshetau, Ust-Kamenogorsk and Semey. Under such conditions, pollutants may disperse less effectively and accumulate near the ground.
