Kazakhstan plans to reduce the average wear level of network infrastructure to 40% by 2029. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
At a government meeting, Vice Minister of National Economy Asan Darbayev stated that 13 trillion tenge in investments will be attracted in 2025-2029, including 6.8 trillion tenge for the utility sector and 6.2 trillion tenge for the energy sector.
"These funds will allow repairing and modernizing 84,000 km of networks, commissioning 7,309 megawatts of capacity, and building and reconstructing 27 power generation facilities. As a result, the average wear level of network infrastructure across the country is expected to decrease to 40%. The accident rate at facilities will be reduced to 25%," said Asan Darbayev.
In 2024, the national project "Modernization of Energy and Utility Sectors" was adopted. The program covers 247 natural monopoly entities in heat, electricity, water supply, and sanitation. By 2029, it is planned to remove 70 utility enterprises from the high-risk crisis zone.
