The draft republican budget for next year provides for an increase in a number of important indicators for calculating social benefits. These include the monthly calculation index (MCI), the minimum subsistence level, and the minimum pension. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

How much will large families receive

This year, the monthly calculation index is 4,325 tenge. Next year, it is planned to increase it to 4,693 tenge. If the budget draft is approved, benefits for large families will also increase.

  • 01For 4 children – 16 MCI (in 2026 it was 69,200 tenge, in 2027 it will be 75,088 tenge);
  • 02For 5 children – 20 MCI (this year 86,500 tenge, next year – 93,860 tenge);
  • 03For 6 children – 24 MCI (will increase from the current 103,800 tenge to 112,632 tenge);
  • 04For 7 children – 28 MCI (in 2026 it was 121,100 tenge, in 2027 it will be 131,404 tenge);
  • 05For 8 or more children – 4 MCI for each child, i.e. at least 32 MCI (this year 138,400 tenge, next year 150,176 tenge).

Benefits for large mothers will increase

Benefits for mothers with many children are also calculated depending on the MCI size.

  • 01Holders of "Altyn alka" – 7.4 MCI (in 2026 31,997 tenge, in 2027 – 34,728 tenge);
  • 02Holders of "Kumis alka" – 6.4 MCI (will increase from the current 27,680 tenge to 30,035 tenge).

It should be noted that in Kazakhstan, "Kumis alka" is awarded to mothers with six children, while "Altyn alka" is awarded to mothers raising seven or more children.

What will be the size of "diaper money"

Another one-time state benefit calculated based on the MCI is the childbirth payment:

  • 01for the first, second, and third child – 38 MCI (in 2026 164,350 tenge, in 2027 – 178,334 tenge);
  • 02for the fourth and subsequent children – 63 MCI (this year 272,475 tenge, next year it will increase to 295,659 tenge).

In the case of twins, triplets, or quadruplets, the state benefit is paid for each child separately.

Monthly payment will also increase

According to the law, women who did not participate in the compulsory social insurance system and do not work receive a monthly benefit until the child reaches one and a half years:

  • 01for the first child – 5.76 MCI (in 2026 24,912 tenge, in 2027 – 27,031 tenge);
  • 02for the second child – 6.81 MCI (this year 29,465 tenge, next year it will increase to 31,959 tenge);
  • 03for the third child – 7.85 MCI (will increase from the current 33,951 tenge to 36,840 tenge);
  • 04for the fourth and subsequent children – 8.9 MCI (in 2026 38,503 tenge, in 2027 – 41,767 tenge).

And the monthly social payment for child care for women who worked before maternity leave is calculated separately. Its amount is 40 percent of the average monthly income for the last two years before the birth of the child and is paid from the State Social Insurance Fund.

How MCI has changed

In Kazakhstan, the monthly calculation index increases every year. For example, in 2023 the MCI was 3,450 tenge, in 2024 – 3,692 tenge, in 2025 – 3,932 tenge, and in 2026 – 4,325 tenge.

The government approved the draft republican budget and submitted it for public discussion. Then the draft document will be submitted for consideration by the deputies of the Kurultai. However, before this, the MCI indicated in the budget draft, as a rule, is approved without changes.
