Kazakhstanis are set for long New Year holidays in 2027. In the new year, January 1 falls on Friday and January 2 on Saturday, so the additional day off will be moved to Monday, January 4. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

After four days of rest, Kazakhstanis will return to work on January 5 (Tuesday), and January 6 (Wednesday) will also be a working day, while January 7 (Thursday) is traditionally celebrated in the country as Orthodox Christmas, so it will be a day off. Then January 8 (Friday) is a working day, followed by January 9 and 10 as regular Saturday and Sunday.

Thus, with a five-day work week, January 2027 is expected to have 18 working days and 13 days off. In addition to Saturdays and Sundays, the non-working days will include January 1, 4 and 7.

Earlier, Kursiv wrote that Kazakhstanis will lose a day off in December due to Republic Day.

Until the end of 2026, Kazakhstanis will no longer be able to extend their rest thanks to holidays. The only holiday in the next two months will be Independence Day — December 16, which falls in the middle of the week.
