Working Kazakhstani women will receive maternity payments from January 1, 2027, regardless of their family's income level. At the same time, some non-working women will completely lose the right to these payments. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

This was stated by Kurultai deputy Lyazzat Kozhakhmet.

According to her, if a woman in Kazakhstan worked and gave birth to a child, maternity payments will be calculated as before. They will not be affected by the family's income level, since social contributions were regularly made for the Kazakhstani woman. That is, the State Social Insurance Fund (SSIF) will continue to pay 40% of the previous salary until the child reaches the age of one and a half years.

"That is, even after January 1, women who have given birth to a child and belong to categories 'A' and 'B' will continue to receive maternity payments," Kozhakhmet clarified.

However, women who did not work, run a household and gave birth to a child will receive the payment from January 1 only if their family is recognized as needy. If the family is not needy — that is, the woman is able-bodied, has no health problems and has sufficient income to live on (those in categories 'A' and 'B') — they will not be able to receive this payment.

The deputy also recalled that in Kazakhstan, maternity payments are currently received by 11,000 women belonging to these categories 'A' and 'B'. It is they who may be deprived of state assistance.

Recall that state benefits in Kazakhstan will be calculated in a new way from January 1, 2027. Neediness criteria will be introduced for 10 main state payments, including benefits related to the birth of a child, loss of a breadwinner and disability — if the family of a potential recipient lives in prosperity, they may be left without payments altogether.

Earlier, Kursiv wrote that Kazakhstanis who disagree with the level of well-being assigned to them in the Digital Family Map can independently check data about themselves and their relatives.
