In the first quarter of 2026, 3 million foreign travelers visited Kazakhstan, the Bureau of National Statistics reported. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The number of Kazakh citizens who went abroad amounted to 2.47 million people. The main flow of foreign guests traditionally came from neighboring countries. The largest number of visitors came from Uzbekistan – 1.1 million people. They were followed by Kyrgyzstan – 723,500 people and Russia – 564,700 people.
As of April 1, 2026, there were 4,505 accommodation facilities operating in Kazakhstan, including hotels, holiday bases, and others. Over the year, their number increased by 192.
In January-March 2026, 2 million guests stayed in accommodation facilities, of which more than 802,000 people chose Kazakhstan's resort areas. The most popular resort destinations: - Almaty mountain cluster – 509,300 visitors; - Shchuchinsk-Borovoye resort area – 116,700 people; - Mangystau resort area – 53,300 people; - Turkistan tourist area – 39,400 people; - Altai resort area – 30,300 people.
In the first quarter of 2026, the volume of services provided by accommodation facilities reached 69.4 billion tenge, an increase of 13.9% compared to the same period last year. The hotel sector in Kazakhstan continues to develop. Currently, the country has 23 five-star, 45 four-star, and 26 three-star hotels.
