The 'Government for Citizens' recommends checking document validity in advance, especially before trips and other important events, and not postponing replacement until the last moment.
In case of document loss abroad
Earlier, Kursiv reported that in case of loss, theft, or damage of a passport abroad, Kazakhstani citizens can obtain a return certificate at a Kazakhstani foreign institution, which grants the right to a one-time entry into the country. In the second quarter of 2026 alone, more than 800 such documents were issued. Most often, they were requested by Kazakhstani citizens in Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Russia.
