On November 2, several important holidays and historical events are observed around the world. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

International holidays

Today is the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists. This date was chosen in honor of two French journalists – Ghislaine Dupont and Claude Verlon – who reported on the armed conflict in Mali. On November 2, 2013, they were kidnapped and killed by militants. This crime shocked the public, and the UN adopted a document condemning violence against press representatives and obstruction of their duties. Under international humanitarian law, media representatives working in armed conflict zones must be protected, and conflicting parties are obliged to respect them.

Since 2011, International St. Petersburg Recognition Day has been celebrated annually on November 2. It is impossible not to admire this city, as it has many breathtaking historical monuments, museums, and palaces. Once you visit this city, you will fall in love with its beauty forever.
