A Kazakh woman convicted of large-scale drug trafficking and smuggling has been extradited from Kyrgyzstan. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

She was sentenced 16 years ago. The wanted woman illegally transported hashish weighing more than 1 kg across the Kazakh border for a monetary reward in 2010.

On November 23, 2010, the specialized inter-district criminal court of Zhambyl region sentenced her to 15 years and 6 months in prison with confiscation of property.

However, due to having a young child in her care, the sentence was postponed until the child turned fourteen. While under probation supervision, in 2017 she evaded the court sentence, and an international search was launched.

In March of this year, she was detained in Bishkek and extradited to Kazakhstan at the request of the Prosecutor General's Office. She is currently held in a pre-trial detention facility.
