Education Minister Zhuldyz Suleimenova explained how the ban on social media registration for children under 16 will be implemented. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The government has drafted a special bill. The President had proposed that the Kurultai deputies consider the issue promptly. According to the minister, the bill also includes norms for children's use of smartphones.
"First, children under 16 will not have their own accounts," Suleimenova said at a government briefing.
She referred to a study by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which found that content viewed by children is having a negative impact on them. "Their perception is fast, they watch many short videos. We see that the child's attention is changing. Therefore, the restriction will have a positive effect," the minister said.
The bill will be submitted to the Kurultai for consideration. "We have prepared and submitted the government's conclusion. We will consider it together with the Kurultai deputies," Suleimenova emphasized.
Earlier, Tokayev proposed that the Kurultai consider banning children from registering on social networks.
