Today, June 14, several holidays are celebrated around the world and in Kazakhstan. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

World Blood Donor Day

Today is World Blood Donor Day. The initiative to celebrate this holiday was simultaneously proposed by several organizations: the International Society of Blood Transfusion, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, and the World Health Organization. The choice of June 14 for the global celebration is not accidental: on this day, the famous Austrian physician and immunologist Karl Landsteiner, who first discovered human blood groups, was born. In 1930, he was awarded the Nobel Prize for his achievements in medicine.

Flag Day in the USA

Also today, residents of the United States celebrate Flag Day. The flag has seven red and six white stripes, with 50 five-pointed stars in one corner. The 13 stripes represent the 13 British colonies that formed the independent state (Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Georgia, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maryland, South Carolina, New Hampshire, Virginia, New York, North Carolina, Rhode Island). The number of stars corresponds to the number of states. Red symbolizes resilience and bravery, dark blue represents vigilance, justice, and caution, and white stands for innocence and purity.

International Bloggers' Day

Today, the internet community also celebrates International Bloggers' Day. The idea to celebrate this day emerged in 2004. More than 500 people from over 40 countries around the world simultaneously united and decided to establish their own holiday. A blogger is a person who keeps an online diary, regularly shares life events, photos, and expresses opinions on social issues. This holiday brings together people who blog in different languages across the globe.
