A storm warning was declared across all regions of Kazakhstan for September 13. Forecasters predict heavy rain, thunderstorms, hail, squally winds and fog, while high and extreme fire danger persists in several regions. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

Astana and Almaty

In Astana, rain and thunderstorms are expected at times, with a possible squall during the day. Wind gusts will reach 15-20 m/s. High fire danger also persists in the city.

In Almaty, high fire danger persists. In the Ile Alatau mountains, short-term rain and thunderstorms are expected during the day, with wind gusts reaching 15-20 m/s.

Southern regions

In Turkestan region and Turkestan, as well as in Shymkent, extreme fire danger persists.

In Zhambyl region, rain and thunderstorms are forecast in mountainous areas during the day, with fog possible in places. Wind will strengthen to 15-20 m/s. Extreme fire danger persists.

In Kyzylorda region and Kyzylorda, extreme fire danger also persists.

Northern and central regions

In Akmola region, rain and thunderstorms are expected at night and during the day, with heavy rain, hail and squalls in the west and north. Fog is forecast in places at night and in the morning. Wind gusts will reach 15-20 m/s, at times 23-28 m/s in the north, south and east. In Kokshetau, heavy rain, thunderstorms and squalls are expected during the day, with wind strengthening to 23 m/s in places.

In North Kazakhstan region, rain, thunderstorms and squalls are expected at night, and rain, thunderstorms, hail and squalls during the day. Heavy rain is possible in the west and north. Wind speed will be 15-20 m/s, at times 23-28 m/s. In Petropavlovsk, hail and squalls are forecast during the day, with wind gusts reaching 23-28 m/s.

In Ulytau region, rain and thunderstorms are expected in the west and north at night and in the morning, with fog in places. Wind gusts will reach 15-20 m/s, at times up to 23 m/s in the north during the day. Extreme fire danger persists.

Eastern regions

In Pavlodar region, light rain and thunderstorms are expected in the west, north and east. During the day, wind will strengthen to 15-20 m/s, at times up to 23 m/s in the south. High fire danger persists across the region.

In Abai region, rain and thunderstorms are forecast in the west and north, with wind gusts reaching 15-20 m/s during the day. High fire danger persists across the region, with extreme danger in the south.

In East Kazakhstan region, rain and thunderstorms are expected in the north and east during the day, with wind strengthening to 15-20 m/s. High fire danger persists across the region.

In Almaty region, light rain will fall in the south during the day, with short-term rain and thunderstorms in the mountains. Wind will strengthen to 15-20 m/s in the south, east and mountainous areas. Extreme fire danger persists in the center, west and east, with high danger in the north and south. Extreme fire danger also persists in Konaev.

In Zhetisu region, rain and thunderstorms are expected in mountainous areas during the day. In the east of the region, wind gusts will reach 15-20 m/s.

Western regions

In Aktobe region, wind gusts of 15-18 m/s are expected in the north and east during the day. High fire danger persists in the northeast and northwest, with extreme danger in the rest of the territory.

In West Kazakhstan region, fog is expected in the south and east at night and in the morning.

In Atyrau region, fog is expected in the west, north and east at night and in the morning. Extreme fire danger persists in the east and south. Extreme fire danger also persists in Atyrau.

Weather change over the weekend

Earlier, Kursiv wrote that a powerful cyclone would affect the weather in Kazakhstan over the weekend, bringing a sharp cold snap, heavy showers, thunderstorms and stronger winds.

The cold snap will affect the northern and central regions the most: daytime temperatures there may drop to +13…+20 °C and +15…+25 °C respectively. Warm weather will persist in the south, while in the west, after the rains, temperatures will begin to rise to +20…+30 °C.
