September 12 is International Babywearing (sling) Day. A sling is a method of carrying a baby with a special scarf, where the baby stays close to the mother while both of her hands remain free. It is very convenient for active parents when there is no opportunity to buy a stroller. The international organization "Babywaring" first initiated the celebration in 2008. On this day, master classes are held and news in baby care is shared.
Every year on September 12, the United Nations Day for South-South Cooperation is marked — one of the UN international days. On this day in 1978, in the Argentine capital Buenos Aires, delegations from 138 countries adopted a plan of action for promoting and implementing technical cooperation among developing countries. The term "South-South cooperation" means the exchange of knowledge, technology and resources among countries of Africa, Latin America and Asia.

Kazakhstan today celebrates Kazakh Cinema Day. "Amangeldy" is considered the first Kazakh film. The film about the great batyr Amangeldy Imanov was shot at the Lenfilm studio. During World War II, Kazakh cinema developed further. The Lenfilm and Mosfilm studios began working in Almaty. In 1941, a studio of feature and documentary films was engaged in shooting pictures. Later it was renamed "Kazakhfilm". The head of the Union of Cinematographers of Kazakhstan, Bauyrzhan Nugerbekov, proposed in 2005 to name September 12 "Kazakh Cinema Day".
