Several holidays are celebrated around the world on October 12. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
World Egg Day
In October, egg producers and omelette lovers celebrate World Egg Day. This special holiday was established by the International Egg Commission at a conference in Vienna in 1996.
During the egg holiday, cafes and restaurants prepare various dishes from eggs – egg pâté, egg cutlets, buns with egg filling, poached eggs, egg roll, syrniki, sweet omelettes, and others.
In Mauritius, 10,000 eggs are fried on this day and distributed to the people gathered for the celebration. American TV channels broadcast programs about the benefits of this product and master classes on preparing egg dishes. In Australia, egg-shaped balloons with the inscription "Ei-mal-täglich" ("Egg – every day") are launched. And in Hungary, songs about eggs are sung and dances are performed, with tourists from all over Europe gathering to taste egg dishes.
Spanish Language Day
Today also marks Spanish Language Day. This day is celebrated by all who love and study Spanish. The holiday was established in 2010 when a UN department proposed designating days for the six official languages. And this day was not chosen by chance: on October 12, Spain celebrates the Day of the Holy Pilar and Spanish National Day. According to statistics, Spanish ranks second in the world by the number of speakers. Although the language's homeland is in Europe, it is more widespread in Latin American countries.
Chocolate Surprise Day
In mid-autumn, the weather gets colder and colder, dampening people's spirits. But today's holiday – Chocolate Surprise Day – will undoubtedly bring joy to anyone. On this day, we can offer chocolate to each other, even to a stranger. Make surprises for each other, lift your spirits. Then everything will be great!
