Today Russia marks the Day of Victory of the Russian Squadron at Cape Tendra (1790), or Military Glory Day. This holiday is celebrated throughout Russia in honour of the victory of the Russian squadron over the Turkish squadron in the Russo-Turkish War (1787-1791) at Cape Tendra. The holiday was established by Federal Law on March 13, 1995.
In Argentina, this day is celebrated as National Teachers' Day. It is also known in Russia as Faceted Glass Day. The reason is that in 1943, the first faceted glass in the USSR was produced at a glass factory in Gus-Khrustalny.
In 2001, in the United States, September 11 was added to the calendar as Patriot Day in honour of the memory of those killed in the terrorist attacks in New York and Washington. In Catalonia, it is celebrated as the National Day of Catalonia, dedicated to the liberation of Barcelona from siege.
