As a result of state support measures, 10,800 Kazakhstanis with disabilities were employed this year, the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population reported. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

According to the ministry, as of 1 October 2026, 29,500 citizens with disabilities applied to career centres for assistance in finding employment. Of these, 18,200 took part in active employment measures.

"As a result, 10,800 people were employed. Of these, 5,100 found permanent jobs, while 5,400 were placed in state-subsidised jobs," the ministry's statement said.

In addition, 4,264 people were employed through public works, 367 people in social workplaces, 495 people under the "Youth Practice" programme, and 499 people through participation in the "Silver Age" project.

Employment quota

According to the Social Code, organisations with 50 or more employees are set a quota of 2–4% of the total number of workers. At the same time, jobs with heavy, harmful and dangerous working conditions are not counted.

This year, a quota was set for the employment of 16,706 people with disabilities. Following the second quarter, about 6,200 people were employed in the country under this quota. In 2025, 8,100 of the 16,719 established jobs were covered. Thus, the employment rate under the quota was 48%.

Special workplaces are being opened

The ministry noted that attention is also being paid to creating special workplaces taking into account each person's individual needs. As of 1 October 2026, 47 special workplaces for people with disabilities have been opened. Of these, 25 are for people with hearing impairments, 12 for citizens with visual impairments, and 10 for people with musculoskeletal disorders.
