On August 10, unfavorable meteorological conditions are expected in Almaty and seven other cities of Kazakhstan. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kazhydromet.

According to weather forecasters, NMC are predicted in Zhezkazgan and Almaty, and at night — in Astana, Atyrau, Karaganda, Temirtau, Oskemen and Semey.

As experts explain, unfavorable meteorological conditions occur when calm, weak wind, fog and temperature inversion combine. As a result, pollutants accumulate in the surface layer of the atmosphere, which can lead to deterioration of air quality.

Forecasters warn that during such periods the risk of negative health effects increases, especially for people with chronic diseases.

The level of air pollution is influenced by wind speed, precipitation, humidity and air temperature.

Residents are advised to reduce time spent outdoors, especially near roads and other sources of pollution. Children and pregnant women are advised to avoid long walks.

People with respiratory and cardiovascular diseases, as well as allergy sufferers, are recommended to have necessary medications with them. Specialists advise limiting physical activity outdoors and, if possible, moving classes to enclosed spaces.

What are unfavorable meteorological conditions?

Unfavorable meteorological conditions (NMC) are a set of meteorological parameters that contribute to the accumulation of harmful substances in the surface air layer. They are usually observed when wind weakens, fog and temperature inversion occur.

How to protect yourself?

Specialists recommend closing windows during NMC, using air purifiers indoors, and wearing masks. People with chronic diseases should strictly follow doctor's prescriptions.
